Option 3: Character as Pattern
The central figures reappear across individual stories. Through repetition and variation, a character profile gradually emerges. This approach is particularly suitable when the individual scenes already function well on their own.

Recurring stances, speech patterns, or decisions can then generate familiarity — even when the order of encounters remains open. Building on this, story branches can develop in creative and unexpected ways, as recurring character traits serve as an anchor, a stabilizing reference within an open narrative space.

More abstractly, this approach describes the emergence of recognizable behavioral patterns across distributed scenes. Character is no longer understood as a fixed state, but as a pattern of recurrence. Whether the concept of “character” still adequately applies under these conditions remains an open question.
